You may have noticed the overwhelming abundance of pink splattered all over players from every NFL team this past weekend. The reason for this is simple. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, this makes my heart jump with joy. Zeta’s national philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness, so for the past 7 years October has been a very meaningful and busy month for me… from tying huge pink ribbons around trees on campus and hanging self-check reminder cards in showers to bouncing on exercise balls for hours on end to raise money and handing out pink ribbons to everyone I saw.
A few years ago the NFL teamed up with ZTA to promote breast cancer awareness even more. This year the Ravens have invited collegiate and alumnae members of ZTA to the Ravens v Bengals game this coming weekend, October 11th. We will be out in full force before the game at Ravens Walk and the corporate tents talking with fans and handing out pink ribbons for everyone to wear. Then once the gates open, you will find us at Gate A; reminding everyone how important it is to know about breast cancer and to remember to check yourself!
So come dressed in your Ravens gear with a hint of pink to support a VERY important cause, oh yeah, and watch the best team in the NFL destroy those pesky Bengals….
So for the month of October, and the rest of the year… remember to THINK PINK!
